You may remember that I (Becci) wrote an article for Issue 2 of @fear_naut_magazine on the theme of “Interruption.” Well, now you can buy it from the RiverKnits online shop! 🙌 It’s chock full of personal stories, poetry, recipes, and beautiful illustrations.

Fear Naut is a magazine conceived and created from start to finish by women and non-binary folk living on the waterways. The magazine is printed at the boat women owned Risograph studio, @duplikatpress.

“We believe that the boating community is bursting with creative folk and those with unique and insightful ways of looking at the world. We believe that women and non-binary folk are more than the classic stereotypes of how we are portrayed. Wow, Stealing Strawberries stole the show - it sold out! 🍓😮

We’ve made it available on backorder and we’ll pop some fresh batches in the dye pots tomorrow, so nobody needs to miss out. Thanks to everyone who placed an order, your skeins will soon be on their way.😊

I promised you a sock sample and here it is. I’m thrilled with how it turned out. The soft vintage colours definitely remind me of my Granny’s curtains (and I hope she doesn’t read this)! 🙈🍓

The yarn is Nene 4 Ply, our versatile and gorgeously soft non-superwash Bluefaced Leicester. There’s no nylon in it so you may be wondering how it holds up in socks. Let me tell you, I’ve been wearing socks in Nene for a while now and they’re doing great!
BFL is a long staple fibre, which means it can’t easily wriggle out of the yarn.
We’ve also had it spun with 3 plies and a high twist, which gives it extra strength.
And because it’s non-superwash, the high wear areas felt slightly, making the socks stronger again.
Of course, they will eventually wear through, but that’s when we unleash our darning skills and give them a new lease of life! 💪🧦✨
