  • Baa Ecru – Severn 4 Ply 50g

    £9.00
Fibre Content: 100% British Jacob wool
    Specification: 4 Ply / Fingering weight - 175m / 50g
    Fibre: Sourced from Worcestershire, UK
Processing: Spun in Ceridigion, Wales, dyed in the UK
Recommended needle & hook size: 2.5mm - 3.75mm (always check the pattern)

This is a light and airy woollen-spun and plied yarn from a single farm in Worcestershire. Jacob sheep are one of the oldest native breeds in the UK. They are striking in their appearance, with white and brown fleeces and multiple horns! We sorted the fleeces by hand, separating the white from the brown. We have natural and dyed shades available. The wool is hardwearing and makes lightweight, warm garments that soften beautifully with age. Use it for hats, mittens, jumpers, and house socks and slippers. The yarn is made up of 2 plies, which lends itself well to lace patterns and stranded colourwork. This yarn hasn’t been superwash-treated, so it will felt if you want it to. This also makes it an excellent candidate for steeking, if you’re brave enough!

    Towpath – Nene DK 100g

    £18.00
Another canal-inspired colourway; the towpath is the path travels alongside the cutting. Originally it was for horses to tow working boats, hence the name, but now it is home to wildlife, walkers, cyclists, and boaters alike. Although quite highly variegated, the colours are light and will allow textured patterns to shine through while lending visual interest to simple ones. The gentle colours blend beautifully in the finished project.

We had a lot of fun collaborating with Third Vault Yarns for this year's Open Day Special yarn!

Third Vault Yarns are inspired by fantasy and sci-fi. When deciding on what theme to go with, Lola listed numerous fantasy series, all of which I haven't read! We finally realised that we both enjoyed Terry Pratchett's Discworld, and love the original cover art from the books.

We dyed two different yarn bases:
50% Corriedale 50% Mohair - this yarn has all the lustre and drape you'd expect from its constituent fibres and that beautiful fuzzy halo too.
100% Cormo wool - a bouncy 4 ply / fingering weight that is soft and smooth. This is the one used in the swatches.
Both yarns are 400m per 100g skein.

  • Honey Sunrise – Nene 4 Ply 100g

    £22.00
One of those magical, otherworldly sunrises inspired this colourway. Honey coloured autumn leaves were hanging over the canalside and the pink, violet, and blue sky was reflected in the water. Stunning. The yarn is gently variegated and that makes it a lot of fun to work with because every stitch is different. The colours blend beautifully in the finished project as you can see in the knit and crochet samples. You can use this for textured as well as simple patterns.
