The marvellous mill folk at John Arbon Textiles are celebrating their 20th anniversary and you’re all invited! Part of the festivities includes the launch of their Appledore yarn, and we were delighted that they asked us and Third Vault Yarns to dye some limited edition shades for the event.
As Appledore is all about glorious West Country apples, Lola (Third Vault Yarns) looked slightly further afield - out into intergalactic space, in fact! She is a big sci-fi fan and has created shades inspired by tropical fruits which are often used as props in sci-fi films and TV shows - we just love the idea, and would well recommend googling a Kiwano if you're not familiar! Instead of zooming off into future realms, we stayed right here, inspired by the West Country but travelled back in time to the mythical court of Arthurian legends. Purple was a royal colour in the Middle Ages. Can’t you just imagine lady Guinevere wearing a garment in Excalibur? And Avalon is giving us all the lady in the lake feels... and as serendipity would have it, Avalon and Excalibur are both heritage varieties of plum trees, yum.
So without further ado, we’d love to present you with not one, not two, but four glorious shades inspired by nature's bounty with a playful twist that is out of this world. We just love the way all four shades play together and would love a big old stripy sweater...
