  • Honey Sunrise – Nene 4 Ply 100g

    £22.00
One of those magical, otherworldly sunrises inspired this colourway. Honey coloured autumn leaves were hanging over the canalside and the pink, violet, and blue sky was reflected in the water. Stunning. The yarn is gently variegated and that makes it a lot of fun to work with because every stitch is different. The colours blend beautifully in the finished project as you can see in the knit and crochet samples. You can use this for textured as well as simple patterns.

Lyn is spun in Devon by John Arbon Textiles, from wool sourced locally to the mill. It's a worsted, plied DK weight yarn with a fabulous sheepy texture. The Exmoor Blueface and Bluefaced Leicester wools provide super softness and warmth, while the Wensleydale wool lends lustre and a subtle shine to the blend. It's a yarn dyer and crafter's dream! We recommend it for a wide range of stitch patterns and projects.
  • Fibre Content: 100% Wensleydale Wool
    Specification: 4 ply / fingering weight - 350m / 100g
    Fibre: Sourced in the UK
Processing: Spun and hand dyed in Britain
Recommended needle & hook size: 2.0mm - 3.75mm (always check the pattern)

Aysgarth is 100% lustrous British Wensleydale wool. Its appearance is similar to the shine and the halo of mohair and it feels like a warm woolly hug. Seriously, you won't be able to stop stroking this yarn! It comes from sheep who have amazing long curly locks and it is a hand dyer's favourite for its colour uptake. The yarn is worsted spun and plied, and has a draping handle, making it ideal for statement pieces. Remember to always block your projects for the best outcome. Please note that this is a non-superwash yarn, so it can be felted if you want.

We had a lot of fun collaborating with Third Vault Yarns for this year's Open Day Special yarn!

Third Vault Yarns are inspired by fantasy and sci-fi. When deciding on what theme to go with, Lola listed numerous fantasy series, all of which I haven't read! We finally realised that we both enjoyed Terry Pratchett's Discworld, and love the original cover art from the books.

We dyed two different yarn bases:
50% Corriedale 50% Mohair - this yarn has all the lustre and drape you'd expect from its constituent fibres and that beautiful fuzzy halo too.
100% Cormo wool - a bouncy 4 ply / fingering weight that is soft and smooth. This is the one used in the swatches.
Both yarns are 400m per 100g skein.

This comes mostly from a flock of Shetlands in Braunston (with additions from neighbouring flocks); a major canal destination that can be reached by boat from our studio in one day! Flock owners Lynne and David have been breeding Shetland sheep for 17 years, focusing specifically on the quality of the wool, which is incredibly soft. The yarn has a heathered appearance, as many different coloured fleeces have gone into this delightfully local spin. This year we have 2 undyed, natural shades and 6 dyed.
