Beautiful things happen when we work together. The Northampton Shear project bag is the product of not one, not two, but four local producers and makers!
Wool from two Northamptonshire flocks, the Ashby Shetlands and Astcote Leicester Longwools, was gathered and spun into yarn. Some yarn was handspun, some kept in its natural colour, and some was hand dyed in the RiverKnits Weedon Bec studio before continuing its journey at the Broughs Handwoven studio in Upper Stowe to be handwoven on a natural linen warp and sewn together with a British wool felt backing, natural linen lining, and metal zip.
We came up with 2 colourways: Slate and Moss. The bag measures approximately 30cm by 25cm and is the perfect mash-up of Broughs Handwoven’s contemporary style and RiverKnits palettes.
Home grown, hand dyed, handwoven, and handmade, all in Northamptonshire, UK. Now ready to house your handmade projects, where it goes next is up to you.
